The Latin music world has been abuzz about the reunion of Mexican pop band RBD, who played their last show as a group in December of 2008.

Now, five of the original six members –Anahí, Dulce María, Maite, Christian and Chrsitopher– have come together for their “Soy Rebelde” tour, which kicked off tonight (August 25) in El Paso, Texas. The show gives start to a highly-anticipated tour that sold over 1.5 million tickets in the first 24 hours it went on sale.

The show features RBD performing from their vast catalog of hits, and for the first time, will feature the group on stage with a troupe of dancers.

Billboard caught up with RBD the week prior to the show, as they wrapped up their final dress rehearsal. In their first in-person interview as a group, the five members opened up about how their reunion came about, the magic that’s created when RBD come together, what they learned as members of RBD, their tour fashion and production, new music and family, among other topics.

They also spoke about the role RBD played in pop music and the many paradigms the group shifted with their record numbers and their messages of inclusivity and pride.

Much has changed, of course, for the former teen idols. Don’t miss RBD’s first interview as a group in over 15 years, only on Billboard! Out 8/31!

In the meantime, see what Anahí, Maite and Dulce have to say about touring with children!

Leila Cobo:
