Heran Mamo is an Ethiopian American music journalist and a staff writer at <em>Billboard</em>. Her work has previously been featured in <em>The Hollywood Reporter</em> and <em>The Huffington Post</em>. She graduated from the University of Southern California in 2019 with a B.A. in journalism. In 2018, she was a finalist in the national Hearst Journalism Feature Writing Competition for a digital magazine story about collegiate rocket science. She specializes in pop, hip-hop, R&B and Afrobeats music coverage and believes in amplifying the voices of underserved communities within the industry. When she’s not busy writing about fellow Habesha The Weeknd or being in the 0.05% of Kehlani’s Spotify listeners, Heran enjoys refining her DJ'ing and playlist-curating skills.
